What can I expect during a treatment?

 

All treatments take place in the shepherd's hut, which provides a peaceful, rustic and relaxing environment. The hut has heating, although many clients additionally like the comfort of a light blanket. Use of appropriate ambient lighting can help create a peaceful setting, facilitating deeper relaxation and enhancing the experience.

 

Free car parking is available. There are three steps leading up into the shepherd’s hut and as this is the only access into the hut, clients need to decide if their health and mobility allows safe access.

 

At the first appointment, a short consultation enables me to establish a medical history and to discuss any concerns. This process ensures treatments are safe, tailored to the individual and identifies areas for additional massage during a complete, holistic treatment. Further appointments will allow evaluation and adjustment of treatment to ensure they remain tailored to each individual. 

 

Treatments are undertaken with clients seated or lying, as preferred, on a treatment couch or Reflexology chair. Some clients like to close their eyes and drift off, others to talk. I take my lead from clients and respond accordingly, to provide what each client needs at that time.

 

Reflex points are located predominantly on the soles of the feet, but also along the sides and top. They additionally extend a short distance up the back of the lower legs. Both feet will be treated by working on the reflexes using thumbs and fingers, applying a specialised massage technique that is firm but comfortable. During the treatment, if imbalances are detected, additional massage will be applied to the area. The treatment incorporates a more general foot massage alongside the reflex point pressure massage, to encourage a deeply relaxed state.

What can I expect after a treatment?

 

You will be given a few minutes to acclimatise back into reality before gently being seated in a more upright position. Any imbalances detected can be discussed and any questions answered.

 

You will be encouraged to increase fluid intake as treatments can increase the rate at which the body is removing toxins. Additionally, resting as much as possible is desirable, as your body strives to reinstate equilibrium.
